A candy bowl could, of course, hold after-dinner mints or foil-wrapped chocolate eggs. But what I tell myself as I scroll deeper and deeper into the options is that a dish like this can do much more.
A candy dish could serve up your citrus-marinated olives or your marcona almonds toasted with thyme leaves. It could cup the cocktail sauce for your poached shrimp or the boozy cherries for a round of Manhattans. And that’s not even getting into the way I’d use them for holding rings or little office supplies.
I love cut- and pressed-glass versions, which feel like jewels on the coffee table and mix nicely with all sorts of pottery for a contrast of sharp and soft. Below you’ll find the ice-blue and cobalt ones I’ve had my eye on—some with lids, some without.
Before we get into that, though, your free find of the day:
These are having a moment, often filled with chocolate mousse and whipped cream. They’re fun for jaunty little ice cream sundaes, too. ($33 for four on eBay)
Along the same lines, these are gorgeous, as are these in stainless steel.
